Who runs this site

Haze Runner is a free, non-commercial browser game made by Shenna Widianta, who is responsible for this website. Contact: shenna.widianta@gmail.com

Saved on your device

Your browser’s local storage keeps your sound and music volume, language and graphics quality, so the game remembers your choices. These are only used by the game on your device and are never sent to us.

You can remove these at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Sent when you play

When a level ends, the game sends a small summary to our server: the level number and how many animals were saved and lost and trees burned and saved. It is added to the public totals on the About page. It contains no name, account or identifier.

The game is also on itch.io. That copy sends the same summary to hazerunner.io, and itch.io’s own privacy policy applies to their site.

Protection against abuse

To stop people flooding the totals, our server briefly keeps a one-way hash of your IP address combined with the current hour, and uses it to limit how many reports one visitor can send per hour. Your IP address itself is not stored, and old hashes are deleted after about two hours. This is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the totals honest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect against attacks. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Links to other sites

The Trakteer and PayPal support buttons and the source links on the About page are plain links. Nothing is loaded from those services until you click one. After that, their own privacy policies apply.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. Because we don’t store anything that identifies you, there is usually nothing to look up, but you are always welcome to write to shenna.widianta@gmail.com.
